Use Webex Interpretation Channels Like a Pro

In today’s global context, the ability to hold multilingual events is a must for many organizations.

Webex’s simultaneous interpretation feature makes it simple to host inclusive meetings without language barriers.

Here’s a quick guide to accessing and using interpretation channels in Webex.

Accessing Interpretation in Webex

1. Join the Event

Once in your Webex session, look for the globe icon at the bottom left of your screen.

2. Open the Interpretation Menu

Click the globe to view available languages.

3. Select Your Language

Choose your preferred channel for real-time translation.

4. Adjust Audio Balance

Use the slider to control how much of the original speaker versus the interpreter you hear.

We always recommend adjusting all the way right to hear the Interpreter only, rather than the two languages superimposed.

Extra tip: Use Headphones
For clearer sound, especially in noisy environments.

Tips for Multi-Lingual Webex Meetings

  • Check Language Options in Advance: Confirm that language channels are enabled and the interpreters have been assigned to the right one
  • Test Your Audio Before the Event: Avoid scrambling mid-meeting.
  • Reminder Presenters to Keep an Regular Pace: To ensure interpreters can be as accurate as possible, remind presenters to speak in a pace that allows them to do a good job

With these quick steps, you can navigate Webex interpretation channels efficiently, making bilingual or event multilingual events smoother and more inclusive.
